Mathias Staas — Founder & Director

Mathias Staas founded the Institute for Digital Land Governance (IDLG) to build the governance standards, registry models and verification infrastructure required for trustworthy digital property systems and virtual land markets.

His work brings together governance design, digital registries, identity frameworks and AI-assisted verification — forming a new layer of institutional trust for emerging digital economies.

Focus areas

The IDLG Audit Engine

A central part of Mathias’ work is the IDLG Audit Engine — a verification system that evaluates whether registries, platforms and digital property systems comply with IDLG’s governance, identity and ownership standards.

Designed for institutions and public bodies, the Audit Engine provides transparent, repeatable and scalable compliance assessments across digital ecosystems.

Motivation

Digital property and virtual land are evolving into long-term infrastructure. For this transition to succeed, clear governance, verifiable identity, trusted registries and transparent auditing are essential.

IDLG was created to build exactly this foundation — independent, structured and forward-looking.
